Medicare Rebate

Adapt Psychological Services welcomes referrals from GP’s, Paediatricians, and Psychiatrists, as well as self-referrals. Clients with a mental health care plan from a GP or a referral from a Paediatrician or Psychiatrist will be eligible for rebates through Medicare. 

Medicare rebates will reduce your out-of-pocket expense and may be processed in the practice to avoid delays in obtaining the rebate. Clients may also be eligible for rebates through their private health Insurance, depending on individual level of cover.

Medicare rebates can be accessed through two pathways

1. Your GP will determine your eligibility for a Mental Health Care Plan (MHCP) under the Better Access to Mental Health Care Scheme. If eligible the GP will complete the MHCP and provide a referral.

2. A medical specialist such as Paediatrician or Psychiatrist can also provide a referral. Specialists are not required to complete a MHCP but can refer directly.

Health Fund Rebates​

As each health fund differs, you will need to check with your private health insurer as to your exact cover. Please note, you are unable to claim from Medicare and your private health fund for the same consultation.

Private Clients

If you are willing to pay the full fee with no rebate, you do not need a referral to see a psychologist at Adapt Psychological Services.

Payment Options

We accept cash, major credit cards and EFTPOS as methods of payment. Fees are payable at the time of consultation and your Medicare rebate can be processed immediately if you are registered online with Medicare. Alternatively, you can attend a Medicare office or process your claim using the Medicare app. 

Cancellation Policy

It is understood that at times clients may miss appointments due to unforeseen circumstances. If you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment, we kindly ask that you provide 24 hours’ notice to avoid paying cancellation fees. This will enable us to provide this valuable time to other clients in need of support. The following fees apply to cancelled or missed sessions:

• No show or cancellation within 24 hours: full fee

• Cancellation with 24 hours or more notice: no fee
